El Presidente del Gobierno Regional de Ayacucho expresó su aprobación a la propuesta de Luis Giampietri para declarar el Vrae como zona de combate e, incluso, y pidió bombardearlo a fin de acabar con los remanentes de Sendero Luminoso (SL).
El titular de la región Ayacucho, Ernesto Molina, pidió mayor severidad para enfrentar a la subversión y pidió "dejar de tener temor a los derechos humanos" para luchar contra los narcoterroristas, de quienes dijo no son numerosos pero están mejor armados.
Molina destacó la necesidad de diferenciar la lucha contra los terroristas, que es eminentemente militar y de inteligencia; y la otra, que es una lucha contra los problemas socioeconómicos que padece la región.
Respecto al Plan Vrae, Ernesto Molina aseguró que en su gestión se sigue adelante con la formulación de estrategias que favorezcan a la población, como la construcción de escuelas.
Por último, envió sus condolencias a los deudos de los mayores FAP Ángel Vejarano y Jorge Sánchez Pérez que murieron el miércoles cuando el helicóptero en el que viajaban por Sinaycocha, distrito de Santo Domingo de Acobamba, provincia de Huancayo (Junín) fue atacado por los subversivos.
